#1 ON THE JAZZ STANDARDS CHART (11/04/03) This song made popular by the Dave Brubeck Quartet in the early 60's, probably best defines the cool-jazz era and is one of the few "pure" jazz numbers to make-it to the top of the popular music charts. When originally released, this tune created quite a stir among jazz purists with the use of the 5/4 time signature, which, blatantly went against the 4/4 doctrine prevalent in jazz. Please enjoy this version of Paul Desmond's jazz masterpiece. |

#3 SONG ON THE SMOOTH JAZZ CHART (02/02/03) Passionate instrumental piece featuring the soprano Sax with accompaniment provided by the "Canheads". This composition actually began as a Bossa Nova, transitioned into a Classical woodwind number, and finally ended-up being this Smooth Jazz, Easy-Listening, Pop-Ballad thingy. Despite the song's confused upbringing, it should nevertheless stir your heart and soul. Enjoy!

#1 ON THE BLUES COVER SONG CHART (11/04/03) This George Gershwin classic is performed as a very sad, mourning blues. The intro section features the bluesy lamentations of the alto saxophone which gives way to an easy-going jazz groove as the familiar melody kicks-in. If you like the saxophone and the blues, then this song is for you! |

#3 ON THE TRAD-JAZZ CHART (09/15/03) Here's an upbeat 1920's vocal number that I whipped together as a present for my Honey Bunny. It also features lots of sax as well as a "Bari-soon-net" solo. This rare instrument belongs to the pseudophone family and is a cross between a Baritone Sax, a Bassoon, and a Bass Clarinet. Check-it out! |

NEW! #2 SONG ON THE CLASSICAL WOODWINDS CHART (05/07/03). This beautiful composition from the Romantic period is probably one of the nicest and sweetest melodies ever written. Being unable to resist the temptations of a nice tune, I've elected to give-it a shot on the Alto Saxophone. In fact, all of my woodwind instruments are featured towards the second half of the song as they accompany the alto with some nice harmonies. Hope it works for you! |

NEW! #4 SONG ON THE JAZZ STANDARDS CHART (05/06/03) This selection was inspired by a 1939 recording of Benny Goodman and his "chamber Jazz" ensemble. This quartet (later a sextet) included Jazz legends Lionel Hampton, Charlie Christian, Gene Krupa, and Artie Bernstein. This song features an easy-swing groove with Clarinet and Vibraphone solos. The arrangement has a slightly more modern feel than the original 1939 version, but I think you will like it. Enjoy smooth Jazz, 1930's style. |

#1 COUNTRY COVER SONG AND AN MP3 FEATURED COUNTRY SONG (05/07/03). This is a Clarinet rendition of Tammy Winette's great Country Classic. I've changed the arrangement to sound like a 1930's jazz number because the twang of the pedal steel guitar didn't always agree with my instrument. Maybe this is how it would have sounded if it were performed back in the days when Benny Goodman was doing his thing. Hope it works for you! |

#4 SONG ON THE JAZZ STANDARDS CHART (10/11/03) Here's a wonderful song composed by Isham Jones back in the 1920's.
