NEW! #2 SONG ON THE CLASSICAL WOODWINDS CHART (05/07/03). This beautiful composition from the Romantic period is probably one of the nicest and sweetest melodies ever written. Being unable to resist the temptations of a nice tune, I've elected to give-it a shot on the Alto Saxophone. In fact, all of my woodwind instruments are featured towards the second half of the song as they accompany the alto with some nice harmonies. Hope it works for you! |
CD: Unreleased
Label: Twinklehawk Production
Credits: Composed by Camille Saint-Saens, performed by Patrick J. Murphy |
Story Behind the Song
Although I'm not a Classical musician by any stretch of the imagination, I try not to let that deter me from trying something different once-in-a-while. This Classical composition by Camille Saint-Saens is only one song amongst many in his "Carnival of the animals" masterpiece. In fact, I would have never considered doing-it on the Saxophone, had I not heard-it performed by Paul Brodie on this very site (go check-him out). As you listen to my version of this song, you will hear a little extra air in my sound as I was playing very, very softly and close to the microphone. Although this excess air is not clean and pure as would be demanded by some, I've decided to live with-it, as it is part of my musical persona. If this offends your musical sensibilities, I must apologize in advance. Besides, a little air never killed anyone...
