#3 SONG ON THE SMOOTH JAZZ CHART (02/02/03) Passionate instrumental piece featuring the soprano Sax with accompaniment provided by the "Canheads". This composition actually began as a Bossa Nova, transitioned into a Classical woodwind number, and finally ended-up being this Smooth Jazz, Easy-Listening, Pop-Ballad thingy. Despite the song's confused upbringing, it should nevertheless stir your heart and soul. Enjoy!

Story Behind the Song
This song originally started-out as a Bossa Nova that somehow went wrong and ended-up a ballad. I began to write the song in the spring of 2001 and finally laid the tracks down in January 2002. The tune also features a semi-classical soprano sax improvisation that arose spontaneously during one of the takes. When it was originally written, I didn't have a name for it until well after it was recorded, almost a year later. My wife commented that it was a great "breakup" song. She explained that during breakups, women will often replay some particularly sad tune in order to induce more crying and misery (go figure). She also suggested naming the song "Teardrop" and I agreed, as it seemed to fit the melody very nicely.
This remix version features a pop-ballad arrangement to liven things a bit. If you like this song, checkout the original recording "Teardrop", and let me know if you like this pop-ballad version or if you prefer the original, semi-classical one. Thanks for listening!
