Story Behind the Song
This song originally started-out as a Bossa Nova that somehow went wrong and ended-up a ballad. I began to write the song in the spring of 2001 and finally laid the tracks down in January 2002. The tune also features a semi-classical soprano sax improvisation that arose spontaneously during one of the takes. When it was originally written, I didn't have a name for it until well after it was recorded, almost a year later. My wife commented that it was a great "breakup" song. She explained that during breakups, women often replay some particularly sad tune in order to induce more crying and misery (go figure). She also suggested naming the song "Teardrop" and I agreed, as it seemed to fit the melody very nicely. A few months after uploading the song, I decided to change the arrangement to liven things up a little. If you are so inclined, please listen to the "Remix" version, and let me know which one you prefer.
