A middle of the road soft rock song. Not a power ballad but a ballad with a message, power and emotion abounding. This song was originally released on the Cd "Let Go" by my friend Ken Mercer and myself in 2001. This is one of the two songs that I sang vocals on from that CD.

A slow, melodic, romantic love song that was originally released on the CD "Let Go" by my friend Ken Mercer and myself in 2001. Ken wrote the lyric for his wife Vicki but we feel that the lyric is universal and that anyone could relate to it. This is the second of the two songs from that CD that I sang lead vocals on.

An extremely moving, emotional and intense ballad about losing touch with your oldest and closest childhood friend. A song that also looks at the emotions of youth, friendship and commitment from a standpoint further down the road in life. A road where time has stripped away the blissful ignorance of youth. This song is dedicated to my oldest and dearest friend who I met on my very first day at Kindergarten many, many, many years ago. Robbie Sexton...this ones for you.

A slow moving love ballad written by my friend Keith Burns and I back in the early 80's when we were in Pike O' Brien together. Money was short in the studio so the vocal tracks aren't all I hoped they would be. This being the case I have always wanted to recut this track but have never quite gotten around to it. Hopefully a new version will see the light sometime in the near future.

Probably the first country pop song that Keith Burns and I wrote together back in 1983. Up until then all of our songs had been uptempo pop rock, and while my writing continued to lean more towards acoustic soft rock, after this song Keiths writing started to lean more towards country music, which eventually led him to Nashville and a succesful career with Joe Diffie and Trick Pony. As for "Living On The Edge", just like the song "Girl" I have been toying with the idea of re-recording this one for years. And for exactly the same reason. The vocals did not come out to my satisfaction. Hopefully I will get around to redoing it one day.

An uptempo pop-rock song dating back to 1981. My friend Keith Burns and I were heavily Inspired by bands like Rick Springfield, The Knack and The Producers at the time and this was our first effort together. As simple as this song is it is very important to me and is a landmark in my musical life for it was the first time I ever recorded in a real recording studio. Another odd twist to this session is that this is the first and last track I have ever performed live drums on.

An upbeat and uplifting rock and roll song about a classic rock and roll topic. Missing your girl from the road. Back in 1981-1983 I was in a band with Keith Burns, now of Trick Pony and Joe Diffie fame and fortune. This song is very significant because it was Keith's first time to ever sing lead in a recording studio.

A catchy, light, pop rock tune that dates back to 1989. My producer/friend at the time David Romine said it sounded like something that John Lennon might write, but to this day I don't see it. In fact, I can't seem to compare it to anybody. So if anyone out there has any thoughts on who this song sounds like I would love to hear them. As for the content of the song, I am sure that EVERYBODY has an "Epitome of Strange" in their life at sometime.

Mary Jean is a straight ahead old school rock and roll song. Complete with a driving beat, great sax solos and classic guitar riffs. And of course to be a classic rock song it has to be about a young girl. Mary Jean is sweet 16..There you have it. A great rocker by Kid Charlemagne.

A swinging, quite humorous, catchy, laid-back swing kind of a tune. Dating back to 1983 , this was the very first song that Rick Keinat and I ever recorded in the studio. Recording this song was very eventful and definitly the most fun I have ever had in a recording studio.

Another early song by Rick Keinat and myself that is along the same lines as "The Worlds Got A Head Start on Me." This one dates back to around 1985. It is a cute litte swinging ditty about lost love on the bar scene in Buckhead, Ga. Rick and I LOVED to laugh, a lot, and sometimes this would usually carry over into our music. This is a VERY raw demo that was recorded dry through a very beat up Sunn 6 channel board into a TASCAM cassette Porta One in my living room. The finished version has yet to be recorded.

Not to be confused with the Johnny Cash song of the same name, this is one of my all time favorite country ballads...period. This dates back to 1993 when I was playing piano, organ and singing backing vocals in an all original country band called Gasoline. Alonside Ray Strickland, Billy Pitts, Bruce Smith and David Piper, (of The Georgia Satellites, The Swinging Richards and The Law fame in Atlanta, Ga.) Gasoline was probably the finest band I have ever been in and we came EXTREMELY close to that ever elusive monumental record deal. To this day many feel that we were robbed of fame and fortune..but hey..dats show biz. On this track I play piano, string synthesizer and sing background vocals.
Credits: JEFF PIKE- Piano, String Synthesizer and Background Vocals / RAY STRICKLAND- Acoustic Guitar and Lead Vocals / BRUCE SMITH- Steel Guitar / BILLY PITTS- Drums / DAVID PIPER- Bass Guitar / Recorded at Exorcet Studios, Atlanta, Ga.- 1993
