A swinging, quite humorous, catchy, laid-back swing kind of a tune. Dating back to 1983 , this was the very first song that Rick Keinat and I ever recorded in the studio. Recording this song was very eventful and definitly the most fun I have ever had in a recording studio. | MP3.com CD: The Jeff Pike Studio Sessions - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
The basic riff for the song was implanted in my friend Rick Keinat's brain one night while sleeping and he could not get a moments rest until he got his musical idea across to me. The problem was that it took a long time to accomplish that little task. We sat for hours in his room, him humming and me with my fretless bass trying to access what lie churning in his brain. When it finally did come out it was like we had tapped a new well for the rest of the ideas for the song, as well as a few others came to us immediatley. However, our next problem was in recording the song. We could not stop laughing long enough to get the damn thing on tape. So thinking that nobody would like it or take it seriously we just let go and had fun. It ended up being one of the best times I have ever had in the studio.
Lyrics
The World's Got A Head Start On Me
Woke up this morning. I'm in a rat race.
Take me out coach I can't keep this pace.
I've been running as fast as I can.
The world's got me
It's outa my hands because
CHORUS
The world's got a head start on me
The world's got a head start on me
The world's got a head start on me
At times you know I feel as though the world's gotta have a head start...
On me..On me.....stroll
I'm strollin. I'm stayin' behind.
I'm just kickin' every can I find.
And I'm watchin the world go by
I can't catch up, I don't ask why because...
I take a turn towards the railroad tracks.
Hop a box car, try to relax.
Move to the first little town I find
And leave this high speed city behind because
CHORUS
(Stroll until the end)
