Smooth funk with twangy guitars. Written way before Johnny Cash's demise, just a play on words after his well-known tune(certainly much more well-known than MY tune here!). |

Funky groove, which kinda picks up steam as it goes. Sending this one out to the musical Pollard bros- Ken, Michael and Cedric, particularly Ken who is a guitarist and likes my playing. Plenty of that "Benson stuff" in this tune for you. (Actually I prefer to think of it as that "Crain stuff", but..) |

For solo guitar. In contrast with the darker "Nocturne", this one has a sunny disposition- hence "Diurne", or day music. It's kinda pretty. |

3 guitars + 'drums'hopefully adds up to a swingin' time on this one, which is basically improv over chord changes very similar to "I Remember You". It begins and ends with two guitars doing simultaneous improv(well, they're both me, so you're just HEARING them simultaneously, but..).#6 in Genre on 12/06/02, and #8 and #9 the two days before that--whatever that means! |

A jazz tune of mine from the 80's sometime. This new version features a keyboard solo and bass solo as well as the usual guitar stuff(which actually ain't too bad on this cut!). Enjoy! This is a new mix, from 07/13/2003. |

Kinda down 'n soulful. I dunno. It's new. Give it a listen. This one goes out to my Japanese listeners, who often make up my biggest listening base(at least according to mp3!). |

Must've been something I played..A 'me, myself & I' kinda 3-guitar thing, like "Just Us", it's basically four and a half choruses of "Autumn Leaves"-that is, over changes very similar to. This one starts off slowly, but swings real good once it gets going. Actually it's some of my most inspired playing. |

Tasty latin funk groove. Lotsa percussion sounds in this one, as well as the usual obligatory guitarz. The guitar solo has its moments of 'stuff' but on the whole is a lot more spare than I usually play- something different as far as approach. |

Like the sign says, 2 pieces for solo guitar. Both are lyrical, pretty tunes, the first played in a combination of fingerstyle and plectrum(with a pick)and the second entirely fingerstlye. My fingerstyle playing is nothing to write home about, but they are nice tunes, especially the second one. Ranked #13 in Genre on 5/9/02 & 8/7/01 and ranked #7 on 11/19/01-and #6 on 05/10/02. Thanks for listening, folks! |

This one goes out to Kevin Ellis, bassist in the Sam Crain Quartet and Frankly Speaking. "Stella" is Kevin's favorite jazz tune. This arrangement, of course, begins with a bass solo, followed by a few choruses on guitar, with a final ballad chorus on classical guitar. "Stella" doesn't need 'bar light' to look good! |

This is another one you could get up and dance to, if so inclined. "Øl", pronounced 'url', is Danish for beer. The Earl of beer. Sort of a bilingual play on words. Occasionally I like to borrow from other tongues for my song titles. Funky, catchy tune. Give it a listen. |

A David Hoffman arrangement of a Sam Crain tune. Dave plays piano and flugelhorn(actually 2 flugel tracks)on this one. The horn playing on this one is just great, especially the cadenza at the end. |

We may never really know, but this tune tries to provide some answers, in any event. "W.I.T.T.C.D." is an uptempo swing thing, kinda has the feel of an old Rogers & Hart tune(or some such standard)to it. Dave plays all the parts here, with no interference from me.. |
