A sort of funk/shuffle tune, & has one of the best melodies of this whole new/old collection. Lots of nice guitar/keyboard interchanges on this one. | MP3.com CD: Roadsongs - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
Grand Slam was written sometime in '85, don't remember the location but it was out on the road. The title comes from a certain breakfast item I'd had, which caused a bit of indigestion. I remember thinking at the time that 'grand slam' was more a description of how it LEFT my body rather than entered it. So a song title was born.
Seriously though, I do like this tune. I've never recorded it(well, one other 4-track recording, but this one has much better energy)but have played "Grand Slam" on gigs.
Despite the cheezy drum sounds, I like the energy of this performance.
