A very melodious guitar instrumental featuring a combination of trad and modern guitars and delivered in a medium rock tempo. Congas play an important role in the verses, and diminished guitar chords dominate the second half of the bridge. Dick Stewart wrote the track for his daughter, Shelbi, who lives in Burbank, CA with her husband and four children. This song is retitled "Shelbi with an 'I'" and a steel guitar lead has been added to the bridge in The Knights' new compact CD album, "In Progression" now available at lancerecords.com. For each CD sold, Lance Records will include a four-minute, professionally produced, VHS video of some very cool, wakeboard wipe outs, sound tracked with the title song. With special permission from composers, Rick Elger and George Bowser of Red Guitars(mp3.com/redguitars), The Knights conjured up their own arrangement of this exceptional instrumental by one of Canada's leading early trad-'60s guitar instro band. Says arranger, Dick Stewart, "I downloaded some Red Guitar tunes from MP3.com and was blown away by the band's smooth, mellow guitar delivery and well-written instrumentals. 'The Man Who Wasn't There' is one of my favorites by them and we think it fit well with our style." |

An early '60s style guitar rock instrumental with classical piano backing that became a number one hit on KQEO A.M. Radio in Albuquerque, New Mexico in the summer of 1964. KQEO ruled New Mexico during that time with an unbelievable rating of 51. Says Dick Stewart, the song's composer, "'Cash Box' gave The Knights a great review of 'Precision' when it was released in 1964 citing that the combination of classical piano and rock guitar lead was very innovative and catchy. Many (including The Knights) were convinced that 'Precision' could have easily climbed the national charts if it were not for the arrival of The Beatles to the U.S. in February 1964. Their new Mersey sound instantly caught on putting the instrumental guitar rock genre, which was the rage in the early '60s, in the back seat." |

Dick Stewart, who grew up in an Hispanic neighborhood in Albuquerque, N.M. , spoke the local Mexican dialect as freely as he did English. When he was a teenager in the '50s his Pachuco buddies at his high school (Valley High) referred to him as El Chuco Blanco which translates freely as "the Pachuco with fair skin." The Spanish dialect that Stewart uses in this song was common jargon between him and his Hispanic compadres during that time. |
