"The Meerkatz" CRUNCH wails with a sixties San Francisco psychedelia. Patty's vocals bring both
Grace Slick and Heart's famous sister singers immediately to mind, catching that need for familiarity.
The ear is lured into an easy, seventies relaxing rock euphoria. "Take a trip on Trans Love Airways
and enjoy the warm San Francisco nights" The Meerkatz songs suggest.

SHORT VERSION OF THE "THE MEERKATZ" SAGA:
(FULL BLOWN STORY IS IN THE INFO SECTION OF THIS SITE)
First off, we hope you enjoy our songs....Lotz of emotion, sweat, frustration, sweat, passion and "MORE SWEAT" went into the makings of our stuff... Make sure you click on the "SONG TITLES", as the story of the "Meerkatz" told in the "STORY BEHIND THE SONG" section of this site is a ripping tale of a long and bumpy road the Katz endured trying so desperately to get the right "mix" of musicians since Fall of 1997 when the " Meerkatz" migrated into South Waldorf, MD and began their venture.
*Personal note from the Katz....."don't ever take your practice space for granted"*** The Meerkatz, believe it or not, do not share a common practice spot, but perform in Clubs and continue to write material...... 'guess a performance for White House staffers and Republicans is pretty much to be proud of (May of 2002) and an air on Fairfax VA Community Cable Channel 10 which highlighted a song written by Patty and Steve 'AMERICAN PRIDE' about what happened to the USA
(after the 9/11 attacks on America). The air on T.V. to showcase "AMERICAN PRIDE" is something that keeps the "Katz" Faith going. The song showcased, (although 7 others were aired that day)...is about 9/11. Steve lives minutes from the Pentagon and witnessed fighter jets flying over his house that day, Patty called Steve from her cell (once cells were working again) and explained what she saw going to work (approaching Washington DC) just before the 'Pentagon exit' off I-95 that day. A very, scary, unsettling, event that shook the world. ******These Katz have many
stories to tell, a very close nit group, with emotions high.... ****The familiarity between this FINAL group of "Katz" and the "Meerkats" that live in the deserts in Africa is this: They look out for one another, and each have a role and responsibility..... Part 2, coming up.....

This is a song about Americans and how, through Patty's and probably lotz of others' eyes, we see our Country........mostly since 9/11. Before 9/11 no one talked about "Our America" and our Freedoms. None of the "plain common folk" considered the fact that we have it made here, more than most "Countries". In this song, Patty tries to describe this feeling, that she knows we all get (you know that "tingly, tingly" feeling deep down inside, and on your arms, and the back of your neck when U.S. Air Jets soar over events, or Flags are displayed, or the end of the "National Anthem" is being belted out by a singer,.. It's PuRe AmErIcAn PrIdE!!!
This song, about that "Pride" feeling, starts out with a steady bluezy rock beat describing what went down the day of 9/11 two thousand and one, and leads you into a true Red White and Blue Blooded chorus and esculates even more from there.. Lots of rhythms in this song....and a Huge, Huge message to the world..... |

This song starts out with catchy chords and rhythm. The piano is dominant throughout the song-which makes this song stand out from the rest. When you get to the chorus, watch out!! The Katz slip into a "salsa-style" sound
that leaves you wanting to kick up your heals and say "Meow"!! A great song of different rhythms and harmony. |

""Chance"" is a song that begins as a ballad, and then
rises to a direct, rocked out chorus-- mellows back to
ballad style verses. "Chance" is a true, true love song. Pay "close" attention to the words. CHANCES ARE, you have asked yourself these questions at one time or another, it should sound "familiar".... |
