This is a song about Americans and how, through Patty's and probably lotz of others' eyes, we see our Country........mostly since 9/11. Before 9/11 no one talked about "Our America" and our Freedoms. None of the "plain common folk" considered the fact that we have it made here, more than most "Countries". In this song, Patty tries to describe this feeling, that she knows we all get (you know that "tingly, tingly" feeling deep down inside, and on your arms, and the back of your neck when U.S. Air Jets soar over events, or Flags are displayed, or the end of the "National Anthem" is being belted out by a singer,.. It's PuRe AmErIcAn PrIdE!!!
This song, about that "Pride" feeling, starts out with a steady bluezy rock beat describing what went down the day of 9/11 two thousand and one, and leads you into a true Red White and Blue Blooded chorus and esculates even more from there.. Lots of rhythms in this song....and a Huge, Huge message to the world..... |

Story Behind the Song
Patty works 3 minutes from the Pentagon in Washington DC. In the A.M.
of September eleven, two thousand and one, to quote Patty: "I was
running late to work at the Washington Navy Yard, in the HOV lanes, traffic
started to b back up 1/4 mile South of the Pentagon...then came to a complete
stop. Everyone directed off the HOV lanes onto regular I 95 lanes... still going
North, but .then noticing black smoke to my left from off in the horizon,
.....our crawling vehicles approach plain clothes gentlemen with walki talkies
physically with their bodies blocking off all lanes North of I-395 just South
of the Pentagon/Crystal City.......and waving everyone onto one exit "Shirlington".
I BLACKED OUT SOMEHOW FOR APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES RIGHT
AFTER THAT...came back to coherency, parked in my car, "zoning"...
listening to my radio about the Pentagon getting hit by a plane.....all I
remember after that is crying in my car, asking my Higher Up, ("what's happening??????")....
.....trying to call my husband from my cell, no connection..then trying to call
what seemed like everyone else in the world all the same result: NO CONNECTION.
cell phones were no good in that area that day.....and it made a horrible, horrible,
event even worse for everyone!!... Not knowing?? I don't wish that on anybody!
I end up in a back neighborhood somewhere in Shirlington VA, have no idea how I
got there....some miles from from I-95. I felt I had to write not about my experience
that day, but overall how that tragedy went down and just how I feel about it.
"Enjoy the song" and listen carefully to the words" Patty Brannan.....
**Steve, Art, Allen and Patty put this song together approximately 30 minutes before
it was recorded, at "Cue" Studios in Arlington, VA
