Inspired by Bradbury's "Martian Chronicles," the final chapter of which is titled "The Million Year Picnic." It is remeniscent of the works of Jon (Anderson) and Vangelis, without the stream of consciousness quality of Anderson's lyrics. |

This is a kind of Alanis/Grungs number that could really use a distorted electric guitar to bring it across. As it is, it's more of a folk-rock tune. Use your imagination. |

This song was inspired by the brilliant Marilynne Robinson novel of the same name (later a lovely film starring Christine Lahti). It's contemporary folk, episodic (has a series of different verse strucrures rather than a repeating verse/chorus) and manages to capture something of source material. I highly ecommend the book and the film, beside which this song -- though one of my better ones -- pales in comparison. |

Channeling Miachel MacDonald, for no particular reason. A song with a very strong hook, poorly recorded. Tinny doesn't even begin to describe it. I don't know who that happened. |

From my Elton John period. Imagining life in a hippie commune. As it turns out, most of the things alluded to in the song eventually came to pass in my group house in Rockville, MD (except, unfortunately, for the home-grown microbrewery cannabis). |
