"Lost Voices" is a delicate, intimate piano driven number that is a standout offering from NYC's Makar. With a subtle nod to INXS' "Never Tear Us Apart," but without any such dynamic explosions that INXS was famous for, Makar nonetheless succeeds in lulling us into this dramatic ballad and never letting go. I really think this song could be the all important spectacular moment in a Makar live show... it has several instrumentation possibilities. It's one of those that could be stripped down to just piano and vocal... a la Prince with a rare performance of "Darling Nikki", or Radiohead's Thom Yorke during one of his more solo moments on the Amnesiac tour. On the other extreme, this is one that could have a full supporting orchestra, in the vein of Bjork or Portishead's more ambitious outings. Either way, "Lost Voices" is a powerful number, and a great offering from Makar." - J. Bills, Critic at Starpolish.com |

The title track of Makar's demo CD 99 Cent Dreams. An upbeat, folky number whose sing-along quality catches you off guard once you listen to the lyrics. |
