Artist description
Makar's Poet-Pop-Art-Rock (PPAR) and Alterna-Folk-
Art-Rock (AFAR) themes promote individuality,
explore social and religious issues as well as
love and sexuality, and rail against war, the man,
drugs, dirty cops, and self defeatism. Makar's
music has been described as "Dylanesque, a cross
between the Beatles, David Gray and Roxy Music",
"catchy art-rock" and "extremely listenable dark
folky", but is best described by an adulterated
Elvis quote: "We don't sound like nobody baby!"
Makar is a unique band with large demographic
appeal. It's poem based rock music of the highest
caliber that incorporates artistic cutting edge
elements in the spirit of New York's downtown
culture. Being on PPAR with Makar means pushing
the dynamic of human enlightenment through sound.
