"Lost Voices" is a delicate, intimate piano driven number that is a standout offering from NYC's Makar. With a subtle nod to INXS' "Never Tear Us Apart," but without any such dynamic explosions that INXS was famous for, Makar nonetheless succeeds in lulling us into this dramatic ballad and never letting go. I really think this song could be the all important spectacular moment in a Makar live show... it has several instrumentation possibilities. It's one of those that could be stripped down to just piano and vocal... a la Prince with a rare performance of "Darling Nikki", or Radiohead's Thom Yorke during one of his more solo moments on the Amnesiac tour. On the other extreme, this is one that could have a full supporting orchestra, in the vein of Bjork or Portishead's more ambitious outings. Either way, "Lost Voices" is a powerful number, and a great offering from Makar." - J. Bills, Critic at Starpolish.com

    Story Behind the Song
Mark wrote his first song called "Time Flies", a title created by an old music buddy he had sung with in the Big Apple back in the day. But something wasn't quite right about it all. The verse chorus structure was there, but it just didn't speak to him. Didn't call his name and tell him to follow its musical muse to heaven's door. Enter Michael Stillman, the Godfather's motor city motorcycle madman slash poet with the most touching anti-war song Mark had read in quite some time since getting off hooked-on-phonics just a year ago. He sung a couple lines over the Time Flies chords and the song found its lost voice.

    Lyrics
    I HEAR THE THUNDER
    I FEEL THE PAIN
    I LIE AWAKE
    LISTENING TO THE RAIN

    LOST VOICES
    I HEAR THEM BEG
    I FEEL THEIR LOSS
    TURN AND TOSS ME

WILL THERE EVER BE BETTER CHOICES?
MUST I ALWAYS HEAR LOST VOICES?
I GUESS I LL ALWAYS HEAR, YEAH
    LOST VOICES IN MY EAR

    I HEAR THE SOLDIERS
    CIVILIAN SCREAMS
    PEACE KEEPING FORCES
    AINT ALWAYS WHAT THEY SEEM

    CANNON THUNDER
    RAIN OF WAR
    I LIE AWAKE
    FROM THE PAIN I SAW

WILL THERE EVER BE BETTER CHOICES?
MUST I ALWAYS HEAR LOST VOICES?
I GUESS I LL ALWAYS HEAR, YEAH
    LOST VOICES IN MY EAR

    I HEAR LOST VOICES
    CANT WATCH NO MORE
    DEAD VOICES
    BORN FROM LIVING WAR

    ITS NOT SO EASY
    AS BEFORE
    TO SEE THE SOULS
    IT BORE

WILL THERE EVER BE BETTER CHOICES?
MUST I ALWAYS HEAR LOST VOICES?
I GUESS I LL ALWAYS HEAR, YEAH
    LOST VOICES IN MY EAR
