"The fiddling is superb, as we have often experienced
from Bow Triplets, but I love the drums. Its not the drums are original
or different, but its what storms this "fiddle fever" tune along. I love
the clever little modulation towards the end." John Willmott, editor Celtic Ways.
The original arrangement is by Jay Ungar and the band "Fiddle Fever,"
copyright 1984 by Swinging Door Music (BMI)
The original recording is still available on "The Best of Fiddle Fever", Flying Fish Records. A link is provided on the linkspage.

"When Bow Triplets decide to do something beautiful, they excel. Yes,
you've heard Lord Of The Dance, but never like this. The fiddling,
percussion and guitar arrangements at the start drift into the gothic,
and elemental. Suddenly you find yourself listening to the true spirit
and meaning of the song.
After a couple of verses, the band start to sing in wonderful
un-accompanied chorus, in comes the bass - and bounces into the "Lord Of
The Dance" we all know and love - but that's not all. Wait until you
hear the tagged on "Dance Of The Lord", the best bluegrass you'll have ever heard."

The Bow Triplets is a Switzerland based band that offers some of the most enjoyable Celtic music around nowadays.Energetic, high stepping, conspicuous smoothness from the first note to last. This is one of the greatest ballads I have ever encountered in my search for great Irish Ballads. It has all the love and hope of a people that have endured life's struggle to keep their home a proud and wonderful land. I say thank you Heidi, Stef and Bow Triplets for giving us such an insight into how the Irish have brought their love of music and song to all the nations of the world. This wonderful tune we learned in the street and recorded it in 2000. It was written by Jay Ungar who has a fiddle camp near New York named "Ashokan" (see our links). This is our interpretation of it but please also listen to the original arrangement, played beautifully and live by Jay Ungar, fiddle and Molly Mason, guitar on mp3.com/jayandmolly. This is the story of a young girl leaving home and how her father greaves for the loss of his daughter and hopes that she will touch peoples hearts in her travels. Solid original songwriting with a beautiful traditional "feel", plus rock solid traditional jig. If you listen to most of their songs, they are not the rowdy drunken groups often associated with Celtic music. With songs like "Not the First Time", "Blue Butterfly" and "Never Too Early", their songs are overflowing with Celtic Romance. (Marc Gunn of "Brobdignagian Bards", editor Celtic Muse) |

vocals sound very English early Albion Dance Band. This song has such
a unique combination of sounds. Its loveable on first listen. Thanks to

maybe at soccer matches too. Its a great song for mob singing." John Willmott, editor Celtic Ways. |

"I love the string bass opening which sets the mood for this very Celtic style song that is so beautifully sung by Heidi.
Its the best I have heard her sing yet.
This type of song really suits Heidi so well
and I suspect this will be their biggest MP3.com hit to date - followed closely by One Spot On Earth
The musical arrangement on this is so tight
yet highly textured with lots of surprises.
The fiddle and harp duet moments are really
unique, yet still maintaining the feel that makes this one of the best celtic style tracks you may ever hear."

The title track of their new CD, a very gentle song, and our introduction to Bow Triplet's beautiful harp of Inga-Lisa. Performed in waltz time and very easy to listen to. Easy to follow lyrics that really provoke the imagination and memories. I think a lot of folks will be recording covers of this. Its a potential standard.
I can even imagine Tony Bennet taking this song and adapting to his style

Did you like "Blue Butterfly" or even hear it? Heidi's fiddle opening, gave me the same exciting shivers as that wonderful tune, some of the purest fiddle music I have heard from her, and then when Inga-Lisa's harp floats in .. aaaaahhhhhhh
Next, Meghan's Reel sounds more like a
feet kicking morris dance. It will certainly get you dancing and clapping with its infectious beat that gets faster and faster
Finally, Stef's Canal Jig rolls along with Inga-Lisa plucking that harp with all give from it.
Open Sky would make a gorgeous bagpipe tune.
How about it The Rogues :-)
