	Story Behind the Song This is the true story (at least we feel it is) of a couple that lived on the hills of Kerry, maybe a few hundred years ago. We both feel very close to Meghan and Robin and are touched by their fate. The ballad would apply to many fates and love stories all over Ireland throughout its history (i.e. Michael Collins and Kitty later on. Here some lines out of correspondence between the two: Kitty to Michael Oct. 1921 "...I lit a candle and prayed that God may keep you in his love and do what's best for Ireland." Kitty to Michael Jan. 1922 "...how I wish with all my heart that you were here where noone could be looking for you or take you away from me." Michael to Kitty Jan. 1922 ...I'm as happy a man as there is in Ireland today. My thoughts just now are all with you and you have every kind wish and feeling of mine."). Meghan and Robin came about one summer when Stef had just returned from a trip to Kerry.
