"Starts of with a baccy chewing, ride into the sunset mood, yet the
vocals sound very English early Albion Dance Band. This song has such
a unique combination of sounds. Its loveable on first listen. Thanks to
The Bow Triplets you'll be hearing this song sung in more pubs, and
maybe at soccer matches too. Its a great song for mob singing." John Willmott, editor Celtic Ways. | MP3.com CD: One Spot on Earth - buy it! MP3.com CD: Ádh Mór - Best of Bow Triplets - buy it!

Story Behind the Song
The words were written by the Australian poet
Dorothy Hewitt, and it also goes by the name "Sailor Home from the Sea".
The English singer Martyn Wyndham-Read wrote the tune, and first recorded it on his album "A Rose From The Bush" under the "Cock of the North" name, and more recently on the album "Beneath a Southern Sky" as "Sailor Home from the Sea". Dorothy Hewitt was one of Australia's finest poets/authors, and a number of her poems have been made into songs and taken up by the folk community (I'm sure she wouldn't mind one of her
works entering the tradition, so to speak). Sadly, she died in 2002, but left a great legacy. "Lloyd Brady, Fiddlestix FM, Australia"
