I wrote The "New Cambridge March" for the "Hot Tamale Brass Band" back in 1993 and they still perform it to this day "night", I've marched down many an avenue and stood in plenty of smoky bars with these guys and consider them all family. They are now in residence every Tuesday night from 6 till 8 in Cambridge,Ma at the House Of Blues In Harvard Square (For Directions ph 617-491-2100) This is the most authentic New Orleans style brass band north of the Mason Dixon.Visit the Hot Tamale web site at http://www.htbb.8m.com.

Park St Under is a poem written by Verandah Porche, a close friend. From a collection of her work titled "The Body Symmetry” (Harper&Row Harper Colophon Pub 1974").To me, it really tells the story of the thousands of love affairs that flame up and die here in this city every year. But if you plan to take a ride on this Love Train, you better be ready for the nightmare turn and the deadly third rail.I tell this one, with David Lamina backing me up on Hammond and Zac Casher provides the groove on the tubs .it’s a live excursion from another of the jive cellars here in Boston ”coolness” |

On this Live recording the trio takes a little romp with a classic at a little night club in Boston, so c'mon in, order a high ball and give a listen. For those who cant get enough clarinet, this is a double on the rocks, and Ken Clark on the Hammond B3 really completes the mood. . |

This one is from a family session I did last year with my daughter Melissa and her mother Patty Carpenter " who wrote Across The Square, also on this site."
We all met on the banks of the Delaware with a fabulous group of musicians, culled from New York and Baltimore to record a collection of songs for an upcoming CD.
Look back to this site in the near future to obtain more information on that.
Check out more of Patty Carpenters music at www.mp3.com/pattycarpenter.

"Across the Square" was composed by Patty Carpenter in memory of her friend Fritz Hewitt, who died of AIDS in 1993. The Square here is Greenwich Village's Washington Square as listeners who have "hung" there on a weekend afternoon will recognize. The song is based on a moment remembered that was shared by Patty, Scott, and Fritz. Scott Shetler plays clarinet. |

The New "New Cambridge March" here's a really different version. Part of what jazz is about never playing the same tune the same way twice.
This is a live cut of the tune, recorded just last year as a part of a live radio broadcast here in Boston from t he famous "Blues After Hours" show on WGBH Hosted By Mai Kramer, Who was second lining right in the studio with us and about fifty other revelers. The room really heated up as new and old members of the band squared off in a situtation where we knew we w ere being heard by many numbers of people over the eithers. I'm so proud that they still do this tune which I wrote for them way back in '93.
This and many other great tunes from the session are available on "Live At The Screaming Torso," The Hot Tamales sec on d release contact "scottywotty@earthlink.net" and get yourself a copy.
