    Story Behind the Song
I had this Idea in my head for a while, the story of a drum passing through time and pulling peoples ears in different directions, I wrote it down that day and sprung it on the band that night. The story will continue
at the next gig, one of the re asons I love live performance.

    Lyrics
    The Drum
Splish splash the cymbals crash.... nobody out there spendin' cash.
So I'll take this time to talk some trash....
This is Not like where the trumpets blare, and all that Rippen Rockets red glare
Though thru that too, the drum is there.
Beating ou t it's Tattoo....into the thin skins of our curly ears.
Let the rhythms start to switch,
The Brushes pace out a gentle swish.
    And Paint a mellow picture.........
A saxophone begins its swoon. (SAX SOLO)
Then there's this guy still talkin' crap,
that soun ds like some crazy Bongo rap, (^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ "pop")
    And underneath an organ pulses
fresh blood into this chattering corpse)()()()()()()()()()()()()()()(.ORGAN SOLO)
    And then
a tintinnabulating bell ~ ~~~~~~~~~ remembers the end of some lost summers day
a mallet roll..... and let decay...........
