Grandscope share the musical out look of contemporary electronic and underground dance music, effortlessly combining analogue sounds, lo-fi drum loops and live instruments. They are as happy producing the gentle pop vibes of Air and The Orb as they are the full-on grandeur of Tortoise, Kraftwerk or Radiohead.
Their debut single, "Tricolere" is released by Bearos Records in May 2003 |

Saloon really should need no introduction.
When this single was released in July 2000 (Bearos013) I said "If I told you that this is the most beautiful record I will ever release, would you believe me? The band weave a dreamy lullaby suffused with gentle electronica; Imagine Broadcast dozing in a hammock on a sunny summer's day."
It's this sort of style and quality that have taken them to the top of John Peel's 2002 Festive Fifty, national and international tours. |

This tall, thin twenty-something lad's post-folk paints a world of eternal autumn, a world of limbo and change. Nico and Nick Drake are your travelling companions on a mournful misty morning journey.
His debut in 2001 (Bearos020) was well received and played by John Peel on BBC Radio 1.
This exclusive track sees him in more whimsical mode!

Ghost Train - pure pop from a fantasy Scooby Doo soundtrack!
SuperA formed out of the ashes of Jameson, Birmingham's self-proclaimed "Heroes of Hi-Fi" and one of the hottest acts on the local scene.
There's still that backbone of Pavement/Pixies' twisted Americana but it's now complimented with shades of Beck and The Monkeys delivering a powerful pop treat.
The band's profile has been heightened by the joining of Steve Perkins, originally of Broadcast and more recently a member of Pram. |

The Starries split in December 2002 and this is a kind of tribute to them. "Sunbeam" was an example of the band's quieter moments and the one the crowd always shouted for.
I often felt that beneath the noise and chaos that Richard and Geordie were the Lennon and McCartney of the Birmingham Lo-fi scene. I wish them lusk in their future projects. |

Silverado was Bearos001 back in June 1998 so we thought this would be a good place to start. The track remained in the live set, with the occasional reworking, right up to the band's demise earlier this year.
Unfortunately all the masters of the vinyl have been lost but this live recording should please the lucky people with the original and the uncultured few who've not heard the track before. The gig was on the huge outdoor stage at our yearly free festival in the centre of Birmingham. Those of you who were there will remember the infamous headbands and the impromptu stage antics of Greg and Russ from Baxxter!
One of the many high spots in the career of the much missed god fathers of the local lo-fi scene
