So hot, this cut was selected for Film Music in the upcoming feature film, "The Skin Horse," a murder mystery study about a police detective, back from alcohol rehab. It centers on his first case after rehab. "Mariachis Cinco" is background during a suspect questioning.

| When the term, 'macho' became trendy, the USA Latin music explosion was in it's post-birth stage. So Davis got clever and went with the trend, entitling this acoustic rocker, 'El Macho.' | Davis was one of the main composers and guitarists for the popular 60's group: B. Bumble & The Stingers. Much of the B. Bumble catalog consisted of classical favorites, rearranged for rock versions. Years later, Jan was afraid a guitar sonata with funk might give classical buffs a heart attack, but fans said, "Why not find out?" P.S. As far as we know, nobody died.

| This is one of Jan's earliest recordings. Alone in the control room, with two Ampex tape machines, his electric guitar, one set of studio drums and a piano. Studios of the early 60's did not have multi-track recording facilities, so the alternative was to overdub, and that's what Jan did. One part after another, he played and recorded all the instruments and came out with this fun version of the Percy Faith hit, "Delicado." It's just a kick in the butt! |
