Jason Foster
Jason began his official career at the tender age
of 15. Previously a drummer, Jason was soon drawn
to the guitar, although some would say the guitar
was drawn to him. With his incredible sense of
rhythm and melody, Jason was immediately creating
unique music, which would become his signature.
“It’s hard to categorize my music sometimes
because some songs just come from two different
planets,” says Jason of his latest project,
MK-Ultra. It’s easy to understand the diversity
and structure of his music when you look at the
musical influences that have touched him over
the course of his career. Guitarists like Stevie
Ray Vaughn, Jimmy Hendrix, and Randy Rhodes,
along with the musical works of Elton John,
Bad Brains, and Jane’s Addiction, have all
provided Jason with guidance and inspiration to
strive for individuality and not limit one’s self.
Originally a self-taught guitarist, Jason would
soon seek professional teachings in blues, jazz,
rock and even classical guitar. His diverse
background and adaptability has allowed Jason
to log numerous hours as a studio session musician
, as well as, perform with bands like Evidence,
Talon, The Guild, Dixie Rockets, Perfect Thyroid,
Scratch Baxter, The Reptiles, Johnny Most Project
, Chris Max, PeaceBomb, Taylor Made,
Outloud Dreamer, Three, Lunch Meat,
Paxton and currently, MK-Ultra.
Jason has also performed on stage with the likes
of Lenny Kravitz, and Matt Chamberlin.(Pearl Jam,
Edie Brickell & the new Bohemians, the Wallflowers)
Playing onstage is where Jason thrives.
He has showcased his talents, along with his
energy and enthusiasm to perform at Webster Hall,
CBGB’s, The China Club and Irving Plaza in
New York City, Northstar Bar in Philadelphia,
Mama Kin’s and the Middle East Club in Boston,
Pleasure Island at Walt Disney World in Orlando,
as well as, The Chance and
the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie,
New York, opening for the likes of Spin Doctors,
Cake, Bad Brains, B-52’s, Fiona Apple, Fishbone,
Joan Osborne, Tower of Power, Goo Goo Dolls,
Marcy Playground, Third Eye Blind, Live,
Collective Soul, Sheryl Crow, Dishwalla and
Candlebox, to name a few.
Whether it’s for a crowd of a hundred or 300,000,
Jason always comes ready to perform. Jason has
been fortunate enough to be a part of performances
at Woodstock ’94, Woodstock ’99,
A Day In The Garden ’97 (Bethel, NY),
ASCAP ANNIVERSARY Party, Grassroots Festival ’96,’
97,’98 (Trumansburgh, NY), CMJ Music Marathon ’94
(New York, NY) and the 1994 KISS Convention.
Jason’s talents and aspirations continue to evolve
as he embarks on a solo career. Jason has added
lead vocals to his resume, where his smooth,
mid-range voice and straight forward lyrics
convey an emotion and feeling that is accented
by the ever present guitar, which remains the
focus without being overpowering.
