All songs (C) 2003 Scott Turchin/SONGMON Music "THE FIRST THING YOU NOTICE HERE IS THE VOICE - a gravelly, deep, strong storyteller of a voice. He could turn the alphabet into something bluesy and emotive . . . This is raw, acoustic stuff throughout . . . It hurts and it hurts real good." - Eliot Popkin, The Muse's Muse "Reggae-drenched roots rock . . . That certainly took me by surprise . . he seems to be following his heart. He simply plays good music about love, life and our place in the universe." - Vanessa Moore, DEMORAMA ******************************************************************************* Hi and Welcome to Scott's MP3 Page! There's lots of music here - give 'em your email address and they'll let you listen to all the MP3s you want! AND thanks to Goodnight Kiss Music (Janet Fisher) for giving Scott Honorable Mention in the recent Storytelling Song Contest! AND ALSO thanks to USA Songwriting Competition for selecting Scott as a semi-finalist and showcase performer! *** SCOTT TURCHIN left his home in New York's Queens Borough on a "mission from God": to go to California to create a unique blend of Southern roots rock and reggae music, with a feel for blues, jazz, samba and other World musics, expressing the influences of folksingers like The Weavers and Limelighters to Cheap Trick, The Who, Joni Mitchell, Gordon Lightfoot, James Taylor, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Elvis (both of 'em), the Beatles, and Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Jimmy Cliff and UB40. With and without his band, THE SCOTT TURCHIN BAND, he has played (on guitar and piano as well as voice) most acoustic venues in the Los Angeles area, including opening for Harry Dean Stanton at The Mint, doing shows at Rusty's, The Gig, LunaPark and Scruffy O'Shea's, as well as acted in television, films, and stage. He is proud to release his first, self-titled CD: SCOTT TURCHIN, a cool collection of "live" studio takes which CDBABY gave its "Editor's Choice" in both Reggae and Roots Rock! And he's already working on CD #2! Enjoy the music here, but remember that as good as these MP3s are, the CD is crystal clear and gorgeous, for only 9 bucks! ** LIVE ** SCOTT will appear LIVE HERE IN TOWN in several songwriter events, performing on guitar.
