Story Behind the Song
Strangely enough, I remember being directly inspired by hearing the Black Crowes' "She Talks to Angels", but this came out sounding a bit more like an early Stones tune! Here I am with my former bandmates, in a simple recording studio situation - great live sound! The story of this song is roughly biographical. Recorded on an old Ampex 16-track 2" machine.
Lyrics
The sky is orange and blue this morning
and she never cried before here
well she remembers the days when he cared about her
in this house that broke her heart
And how many ways she shattered
doesn't matter anyway
because the taxi's coming for her
and there'll be so much time to
cry, cry
cry, cry lord
and she's finally getting free
hope she feels the need for me, I
think this is our time
she could change her mind
let her heart run free
cause real love is never a crime
and there's a cold breeze on her shoulder
in this home away from home
head achin' from too many feelings
and the curse of being alone, lone
alone, lord
