An early early piece - about 1986. I play a bamboo flute I built, and then do an analysis, recalculation of the flutes "edge tones" (the noise at the whistle that is ordinarily mask by tone production) and resynthesize them as bells. |

Opus 1. Released on "the Second Usenet
Tape" (Gregory Taylor, ed.) in 1983, which I suppose makes its one of the earliest pieces of "internet music". The bandwitdth wasn't there for streaming or downloading, but an active group of composers US Mailed a lot of tapes around to thier Usenet correspondants.
Thanks to the awfully happy, and probably insane man I followed for three blocks with
what passed for a portable recorder in those days - long before minidiscs. |
