Khaetidawne and Brendan Quirk Selected Reviews "When it comes to period and 19th century music, the way music was sung and written in that period, Khaetidawne Quirk's album 'Legends And Love And The Songs We Sing' is so close and so accurate to the 19th century. This is a simple album - it has been treated delicately, the way music was done in that period. I recommend this album to people who appreciate period music the way it was." Danny O'Flaherty, O'Flaherty's Irish Channel Pub, New Orleans, LA "Khaetidawne Quirk is a purist when it comes to traditional Celtic music. Her costumes and style of singing reflect the rich history of the 18th and 19th centuries. " - from Barnes & Noble Events magazine. "Khaetidawne Quirk performs her Civil War music as it was originally composed, including several unusual versions of Dixie. Much of her music has ties to Celtic music, dating back to the pre-colonial days when Southerners still had memories of their lives in 'the old country'." Clint Johnson, for Stokes County News, Winston-Salem, NC "If you live in the Triangle of North Carolina, the absolutely biggest celebration, without question, is the Festival for the Eno, a three-day event that takes place at West Point on the Eno, a city park on the north side of Durham. When I heard that a lass named Khaetidawne Quirk was opening on Saturday, I had to be there. And she did not disappoint. In fact, Quirk and Co. is literally a family affair. Led by Khaetidawne, who is the Mrs., the trio includes her husband, Brendan, who sings along with her and also plays keyboards, and her daughter, Bryttani, who adds back-up vocals. There were Irish songs all in a row, from a Gaelic tune translated as "Lewis of the Maidens" to "Keep Your Hands Off Red-Haired Mary," a not-so-subtle warning to young lads to be careful whose hand you go takin' in public. There was the lonesome "You're Calling Me & Now I'm Going Home (Caledonia)," and a song actually made popular during the Civil War, "The Rose of Alabammy." But our favorite was a sweet tune about a man who falls in love with a Creole girl just outside of New Orleans. He meets her "By the Lakes of Pontchartrain." Alan R.
