An almost cartoonish song also known as "The Sick Note" about a guy who had a really, really bad day and can't make it to work. (No really bad!) |

Robert Burns wrote some of the most beautiful love songs. And this is just one example of his mastery. Sung a capella, this song will be on the Brobdingnagian Bards upcoming CD, "Songs of Scotland" due out in the Spring. |

This is one fantastic Irish Folk song about a man who puts on one rollicking party when his Dad dies. It turns into a free-for-all. |

This song was written by Dominic Behan, brother of Brendan. It tells the story of Fergal O'Hanlon from Ballybay, Co Monaghan, who tried to abolish the border between the Six Counties and the Republic. He was killed during the Brookborough attack at the age of 17. The song has become world famous. It is undoubtedly one of the best ballads ever to come out of the Irish struggles. |

I wrote this at the end of January 2003. Unfortunately, it was too late to add to our upcoming Tolkien CD, "Memories of Middle Earth", but it makes me smile. Here's why: One of the peculiar things I noticed reading Lord of the Rings was that every time Frodo and company met another race, they seemed to be the OLDEST. It started to get funny after a while. So I wrote this as a sorta bragging song of the races of Middle Earth. Originally I called it "Never Give Up the Mountain", but I wanted a name that was more indicative of what it was about. |

I wrote this song in 2001 while driving to DFW for a gig. It was originally written as a happy birthday song for me, but I think it's more appropriately a happy birthday song for anyone of Celtic descent. |

A rousing traditional Scottish song about the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689. The first three verses and chorus were written by Robert Burns in 1789. Download this song from http://wwmp3.com/CelticMP3s |

The Leprechaun is a symbol of old-style thinking of Celtic music. People who are too narrow-minded in their ways to experience a musical renaissance of Celtic music. And though they may belittle it, the renaissance will eventually prevail. On a more frontal glimpse, it's just a fun, silly little ditty that's bound to make ye smile. |

There are literally hundreds of verses of this song in existence. My dad had his own version. So a few years ago, after much prodding, I was able to talk him into writing down his lyrics. Seems much shorter than I remember. |

I recorded this song in the studio for my second CD, a four-song EP called "October Sessions". It features a great autoharp rhythm strum that I adapted from an autoharp instructional book. It is contemplative song of Christian values. |

On "Marked By Great Size", my first album with the Brobdingnagian Bards, I recorded this with an Irish-y accent and tried to pass it as semi-traditional, but honestly, this song is totally an original folk song I wrote on my autoharp, and one of my most popular songs to play. It has nothing to do with Ireland either. It actually was written as a love song that reminds me of Hawaii and even the rhythmic strum pattern was highly inspired by the Hawaiian bands Olomana and Sons of Ni'ihau. |

I have a strange attraction to the somber and depressing, but my love of "Wierd Al" Yankovich, kinda left me with a different feeling. This song takes the point of Sesame Street's muppet, Ernie. All alone, he looks into a mirror and sees Harry the monster, and gets really depressed. It has a very child-like sound to the recording. But the Ernie imitation makes it kinda amusing and popular among friends. |

Braveheart meets Alternative Middle Eastern Folk music. This song is a wonderful fusion of Celtic sound and Middle Eastern rhythms performed on my autoharp and Andrew's Recorder. It's an instrumental song, and despite the name, it is NOT a jig. But it is beautifully performed and is often featured on MP3.com |

"Dying Flame" is a political lament at the state of modern country music. I wrote and recorded this song for my first album, "Ichabod's Geography". It has a wonderful folk feel to it that is more reminiscent of "The Streets of Laredo" than a Country song, but I think of it as being sort of country-ish. There are also a great references to "Rhinestone Cowboy" and also a very cool reference to my Uncle. Go to "Story Behind the song" for more information. |
