Artist History
Marc Gunn, Bard, is one of those rare performers who knows how to entertain an audience. His desire to bring joy to people's lives has led him on a long journey from an early career performing in punk rock bands, where he learned how to perform, to his days as a bard, where he learned why to perform.

In 1997, Marc Gunn borrowed an autoharp from his dad and began teaching himself to play and write music. "It's a fairly simple instrument to play," says Marc, "but it is a difficult instrument to play well." He started writing music immediately, and in May, 1998, he released his first album Geography. In October, he followed up that release with a four-song EP, October Sessions. These albums received moderate praise from local critics, but it was his semi-Celtic songs that gained most attention.

In January, 1999, Marc Gunn's Celtic songs attracted the attention of a representative of the Excalibur Fantasy Faire. Marc then contacted longtime friend and recorder-player, Andrew McKee, and they began performing Celtic Renaissance music. They named themselves "The Brobdingnagian Bards" and were honored for their contribution to the faire.

The Brobdingnagian Bards then took the Southwest by storm. They played over 300 performances in 1999, and self-released two CDs in the same year. The Texas Musicians Network called them the "hardest working Celtic band in Texas." And in the Summer, 2000, they began recording their third CD, Songs of the Muse.

Marc Gunn continues to play Celtic Renaissance music with the Brobdingnagian Bards, and as a soloist. In addition to the Songs of the Muse, he is currently recording his third solo album, The Music Box, both of which are due out in the Fall, 2000.

Always a writer, he is also an active participant in the online music community where he has gained a considerable reputation as a writer for a weekly guerrilla music marketing ezine, The BardsCrier.com.

His persistence to entertain and instruct inspired Bob Baker, editor of The Buzz Factor and author of 101 Things To Do In The Music Business to call Marc Gunn "a bard amongst bards." His persistence to entertain and instruct has captivated audiences and helped thousands of people through his ezine and the TexasMusicians.net in less than three short years. And from the look of things, there is no end in site.
