4th movement of the First "Peer Gynt Suite" by Edvard Grieg (1843-1907). The suite was originally an accompanying music for Henric Ibsen's play "Peer Gynt" (1867), which describes the restless life of the disillusioned guy Peer Gynt. This particular movement about the Mountain King is actually a ballet music for the wild daughters of the King. Peer had seduced one of them, and now they all shout "Kill him!". This is when the music gets really loud in the end... weird stuff... This recording - like all others made by the Virtual Philharmonic Orchestra - is based solely on computer and MIDI instruments. |
