	A prelude, based on the popular German Christmas Carol "Suesser die Glocken nie klingen" ( = sweeter the bells never sound). This prelude picks up motives and phrases from that song. The onset is a dark and hostile world, enlightened by the sound of bells, which give hope for peace. Composed in October 2001.
