Artist description
Chris is originally from Dover, DE. He graduated from Dickinson College in 1998 with a B.A. in Music and a B.S. in Mathematics, and received an M.M. in Music Technology from NYU in 2000. ChrisÕ music is thoroughly contemporary, yet accessible, often combining "classical" composition techniques with modern technology and performance practice. Some of his works that exemplify this are When In Nomine . . .(1999) for Bass Viola da Gamba, Tape, and Electronics, Two Artifacts (1999) for Viol Consort (chosen as a finalist in the 2000 Traynor competition, sponsored by the Viola da Gamba Society of America), String Quartet No. 1 (1998), and Loops (1998) for orchestra. Chris has also composed a number of film scores, including two recent festival favorites, Being Claudine (2000) and VasaramaÕs Lovers (2000), and the experimental silent film, Synchronicity (2000). At present, Chris resides in New York City where he continues to compose and perform on the tenor viola da gamba. |
