Artist History
"Back in the day. . . Sheldon Cooper and Nathan Hoffard were struggling to form a band without much success. At the same time, a mere three hours away in Dayton Ohio, Derek Shank and Aaron Peer were having their own struggles, successess, and what not. But in the fall of '97 things would change. Sheldon took it upon himself that Fall to put out an add at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana, where Aaron and him both attended college oblivious to the other's existance. Well, the words "Metal" and "Guitarist/bassist" stuck out and Grace College's only two metal heads, at the time, united. Most of '97 and the spring of '98 was a formative process for the trio, having no name and only 3 core members, it was a time where ideas were exchanged and bonds were forged. As fall of '98 hit, the appearance of two new members, vocalist and lyracist Derek Shank and the musically talented and versatile Joel "Swash" Knell on bass, caused LBD to explode into a frenzied ferver of writing, learning, tightening, and strengthening of style and talent. By late spring of '99 they had four original songs, and were tight enough to break out into the scene and do some shows. Over the summer and early fall of '99, LBD was forged like iron; sharpened, honed to a razor's edge, and a unique style came forth as a result. Many of the original works by LBD in its formative year and a half gave way to the more mature peices and compositions which characterise Life By Death here and now in the onset of the new millenium. . .
