    Artist description
We are a melange of Tampa area talent. We are less a "band" than a "project". The core of Scrotius Carbunkle is drummer/sometime guitarist/sometime bassist/songwriter/producer/engineer Kevin D. Astl, a longtime drummer in local and national Death and Technical Metal bands (Resurrection, Epitaph). Mr. Astl records the project in his small but well-equipped home studio, where he writes and plays his music. The other members of the project vary - but here are a few: Steve Hawthorne - Guitar; Tony Teegarden (ex-Cynic, Epitaph) - Guitar and keyboards; Mike Messina - Guitar; Amir Dabiri -Bass and keyboards; Rob Barrett (ex-Cannibal Corpse, currently - Malevolent Creation, Hate Plow) - Guitar. So you see, Scrotius Carbunkle is unpredictable, in that you never know who did what (unless you ask), keeping the material and the influences for such fresh and interesting. Astl, who by the way is a music and entertainment attorney by day (and can be contacted at 1-888-848-1223), is that maniacal glue that holds Scrotius together. The styles abound, from industrial grooves such as "Devil Dance" to all-out shred pieces such as "Spontaneous Combustion". We love it all, and look forward to surprising you all with our newer material, due out shortly.
    Music Style
Melodic, Somewhat Technical Metal, sometimes fast, sometimes not, always heavy, with an edge and production that may surprise, along with inordinate groove.
    Musical Influences
Cynic, Meshuggah, Children of Bodom, Devo, Malevolent Creation, Demolition Hammer, Solstice, Arch-Enemy (Amotts Unite!), Judas Priest, Maiden of course, Black Sabbath, Death (Symbolic - top album of 1997), Rush, Fleck, Tribal Tech, Classical Arrangements (Beethoven's Ninth!), and waaaay too many others to list in one shot - but all legitimate quality metal and music.
