Artist description
It's late at night; You're alone, St. James crawls into your soul with Explosions of guitars and love; Great washes of rhythmic psychedelic noise; deep powerful haunting screams of emotional confusion and understanding; It's hot, it's cold, I'm lost, I'm found; the drum pounds while thousands run through the jungle trying to find that music that tears into your heart while you dream. St. James understands. |

Artist History
Saint James was a diplomat for the United States in France when he first heard a French punk rock band at the Le Mouluee'bAR AND gRILL. He immediately bought a guitar and a drum machine and borrowed a sampler from David Bowie that he never returned. (Dave call me.) He found a beautiful French Ballet Dancer, Chelsea Death, who played numerous instruments and was willing to do whaever St. James told her. They moved to New York hoping to have Brian Eno produce the songs St. James wrote while in flight from London. Brian refused to have anything to do witth the project because St. James insisted on using the word "fuck" in several songs. (This is true!) St. James and Chelsea then hit the streets and busked up $5,000.00 in two weeks and recorded the songs you hear here. All reasonable offers will be considered and St. James wishes someone would hurry because he is currently broke and Chelsea is making noises about being paid. |

Press Reviews
Saint James and his Catastrope are anything but a Catastrophe. As to what kind of music they're playing is anyone's guess. I hear James Brown one minute, Jim Morrison the next, the Beatles and NIN the whole time. I'd go on but the influence game simply dosen't work here. There are literally songs and sounds unlike anything I've ever heard. I don't know where the record store would put this stuff. One thing is evident; it's loudly passionate, lyrically fascinating and sometimes hilarious. I love this guy.-- Dorian Gelk*Moscow News Saint James must be stopped--Tom Nysayer*New York Times Only once in each man's lifetime does something occur that makes you stop and think. Saint James has forced me to do that.--Freddy Blue*L.A. Times This band rocks and yet it makes you wonder if you left the stove on--Herb Caen*San Fransisco Chronicle I don't understand.--Cosmopoliton I just wish that each and every woman in America could hear this haunting, passionate, deeply disturbing, silly music.--Some guySpin Magazine I wish St. James would return my sampler--David Bowie*Rock dude Where's the government? Where's the FBI? Where are all those crazy vigilantes? Where's the PRMC?--*The New Republic Jesus Christ it's only music.--Bonnie Price*Christian Science Monitor |

Additional Info
Saint James will often leap from the stage and bite female fans who wander too close to the stage. Chealsea dances like a maniac but it's hard to tell from the recordings. Many Stars have performed on recordings and live including Iggy Pop, Pinetop Perkins, R.L. Burnsides, John Lydon, and believe it or not Elvin Bishop (I have pictures) |
