Press Reviews
" Their performance of the Foote is spectacular. Passionate, intense and radiant, the group brings to mind, to an astounding degree, one of the more celebrated ensembles of the 20th century: Heifetz, Piatigorsky and Rubinstein. The vivacity of their rhythm, the wealth of affective nuance they find in every compositional corner, the profusion of phrases which jump off the page and into the world of the living appears to form the principal he capital of their interpretive arsenal. Bravo!" -- John Bell Young, pianist, recording artist and critic for the American Record Guide, Opera News........"a fusion of sound of superior quality...one can easily predict a resounding future success." -- Diari de Balears........." "this disc seems to represent [Foote's] first trio's first recording on CD...Imagine if you will Dvorák's Cello Concerto, the Brahms Double Concerto and hints of the Mendelssohn Octet and you will get some idea of what to expect. The pliant and responsive tenderness of the adagio molto is notable. A most enjoyable experience...The atmosphere [of the Shostakovich] mixes a Klezmer violin style with the extremes of emotional conflict. The artists do nothing to soften the conflict and yet the lyricism is there in full flood. A most impressive event.... Concert promoters would do well to hear this disc. If the trio have not yet appeared at London's Wigmore or Queen Elizabeth halls then they should be given the opportunity and for heaven's sake let them loose on the Foote and don't force them down the hum-drum route of 'safe' repertoire....A most engaging disc and one with both promise for the future and immediate access to two vivid musical experiences." Rob Barnett, www.musicweb.uk.net............. "Extremely talented trio of piano, violin and cello has an affinity for works of the twentieth century. Each member is a spectacular technician, with a willingness to let even stiff compositions breathe." Jesse T., www.listen.com reviewer |
