    Artist description
'Uncle Phester' is a 3 piece group. We are made up of 1 female vocalist and 2 other crazy guys. We specialise in FUN and of course music. The 'Uncle Phester' trade mark, 'UP' is not only our logo, but our out look on life. 'Uncle Phester' enjoys putting on a show with costumes and kooky instruments. Constantly we surprise our audience by adding special guests, changing our music and doing impromtu performances in strange places. We blend a mixture of electronic noises, samples, some rockin guitar and a slinky bass. 'Uncle Phester' has always enjoyed a healthy attitude of not allowing the boundries of technology stop the creative flow of making music on the fly. We have been giging in various forms for about 10 years.

    Artist History
Uncle Phester first saw the light of day in 1981 when Big-G and Bags were attending a dorky elementary electronics study class. Big-G was up to building his first TRUE RMS VU meter, and Bags had his portable turntable hooked up to a flashing light. In the class room they grew to be good friends. They soon realised they had a common interest in music, so they formed a band in 1982 called Corrugated Iron, recording their first album on a clock radio cassette machine. During the session they would go heavy and destroy drum kits and bass amps and other things, much to their parents dislike. After a few years they bought some gear, and then discovered computers in 1985. Their first contact with samplers was in 1987, using the Yamaha SPX90 and so a band was born. Moving through various influences in music composition, they finally settled on their own twist of electronic music. In 1993 Bags and Big-G decided on a name that was particularly non descriptive of the band or style, wanting the band to have an identity as a personality, this also freed them up to incorporate diffrent music styles. From there they began to play live to audiences around their local town. It was at this point they decided to take it a little more seriously. They set on finishing an album in '96, and recorded a live album in the middle of making the studio album. 'Phesterville', the studio album, A lot of coffee went into this one! 'Live At Cafe BiBo', the live CD, is more casual. The Band Members have recently been travelling the world, and now look set to firing up again in the new millenium. Stay tuned....

BAGS: When Bags plays live, he plays his 101, triggers samples, plays bass and trashes an old 'Korg' keyboard that still manages to produce sound, dispite missing keys. In the studio: Bagsy bursts in the door with a hot herbal tea and helps Big-G program, produce, sample old records and bring some sensibility to the mixes. BIG-G: When Big-G plays live he cues up the DAT backing, plays keyboards, triggers samples, melts keys on solos and plays the guitar, even with broken strings! In the studio: Big-G comes up with some new ideas, programs, produces, plays and searches the net for silly samples to use. TEEN: When Teen performs live, she sings, triggers samples, plays some of the crazy home made instruments and stage dives into the crowd. In the studio: Teen sings, assists in production and contributes her philosophical lyrics. Not to mention a soothing shoulder massage with some oils burning.

    Press Reviews
REVIEW FROM FORTE MAGAZINE 98''Finishing the night, the oldest new band in town, Uncle Phester stalked onto the stage to ominus DAT sounds. Suddenly, the beats were kicking and the crowd went fully mental. A bizzare amalgam of techno, hip-hop, rock, and pythonesque humour, the Phester brought down a barnstorming set with eclectic instrumentation (wash boards in techno!!) oblique covers, star wars samples, rock excess and full frontal nudity. Those left standing at the end of the set walk around dazed, hugging each other or madly scrambling through empty pockets for the money to buy a CD.'
