Artist History MORS SYPHILITICA-----I have been looking for a long time for the second CD by Requiem In White. My expectations haven't been deluded! The new project by Lisa and Eric Hammer, baptized Mors Syphilitica, is once again one of these few albums you1re more than happy to spend your money for! In relation to (Requiem In White) "Of The Want Infinite", apart from the great change of line-up (now they are only two: Lisa-vocals, and the eclectic Eric-all instruments!) there aren't changes of style to note. As before there is the predomination of Lisa's voice, but now there is also a larger presence of choirs. She makes notes fly in a sensual mood and emanates soft melodies together with the echoing guitars and the obsessive rythmic lines. I think considering this band as the middle point between Christian Death and Dead Can Dance would be really too limiting. There aren1t simply gothic influences (which instead happens to most of the new self-saying gothic bands) but also black metal, classical opera, middle ages influences and atmospheres (try to imagine what would happen if the songs 3Below the Baleful Star2 or 3The Woman Who Believed2 if they were sung by a death metal singer!!!!) Eric Hammer1s guitar style is surely unique and I1m sure he has nothing in common with the bands above just as Lisa has nothing in common with all the usual gothic singers. Of course that1s gothic; that is what I think gothic is, different from new wave, dark, cold wave, post-punk, etc! The only comparison I truly feel to make is with.......Requiem In White!
