Artist description
In theater and film, cucoloris is the artificial manipulation of light and shadow to create effects that mimic light patterns found in nature. In music, Los Angeles duo Cucoloris bends the gradations of light and shadow into carefully constructed compositions that are both rich and minimal. Using Clay Tison’s classical training and Kat Cook’s indie-rock experience, this songwriting team refines their work into a haunting and evocative brand of beautiful music – recalling This Mortal Coil and Cocteau Twins. |

Artist History
Clay is a classically trained guitarist who came to L.A. in 1994 to earn a graduate degree in classical guitar performance.
Though Kat never endeavored to be a professional musician, she was a natural lyricist and vocalist. After being lead singer of the Chapel Hill, NC band June, who released their debut disc on the Beggar’s Banquet label in 1996, Kat came to Los Angeles in 1997.
