    Artist description
    Singer, songwriter, actor, grandparent and dulcimer whiz, Rick Scott combines music, theatre and laughter in lively, warm-hearted performances for all ages. He offers family, school and adult concerts; songwriting workshops for children and Music As A Second Language workshops for educators who don't think they can sing. His music is truly suitable for all ages and is something families can enjoy together. His award winning children's albums span musical genres from folk ballads to comedic novelty tunes to rap songs about Mozart (YO MO) and second chances (DO-OVERS). His songs embrace themes that support and augment curriculum for schools and teachers resource materials are available. Rick has performed in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Australia. In 1999 he won a Special Award in the Children's Music Web Awards (along with Yo Yo Ma and Bobby McFerrin.) His PHILHARMONIC FOOL CD was nominated for a 1996 Juno Award (Canada's Grammies) and Pacific Music Industry Association Award for Best Children's Album. In summer 2000 Rick will release 12 new original songs on his 4th family recording, MAKING FACES.

    Artist History
    Rick brings to the stage 30 years experience as a singer, songwriter, actor, father and grandfather. Since 1989, when the Vancouver School Board invited him to join its Artists In Schools program, Rick has increasingly devoted himself to working with and for young people, performing over 1000 concerts and workshops in schools and communities in nine countries around the world. Rick is a spokesperson for the Down Syndrome Research Foundation in Vancouver, Canada. His song ANGELS DO, written for his granddaughter who was born with Down Syndrome, has become an anthem for the special needs community around the world, and his ANGELS DO video is shown on Treehouse TV, the Knowledge Network and the Disney Channel.

    Rick Scott usually performs solo but on his albums is accompanied by some of Canada's leading musicians. Tours solo or with the legendary folk trio Pied Pumkin (with Shari Ulrich and Joe Mock).
