L I S T E N . C O M: "Shimmering guitar pop addresses Christian themes and romantic yearning for Christ. Her provocative songs border on the sultry as well as expressing warm, fresh-faced naivete"...Noah E. . . . . . E T E R N A L P R A I S E . C O M - Of all the songs on Janet Murphy’s MP3 website, "He Waits For You" is my favorite. All of the songs are interesting-with titles like "Fantasy and Moonbeams" and "Cry of Peter Jennings", how could they not be? But the jazzy, lounge-type vibe this song lays down makes it stand out. The song’s theme is most interesting. It is a gentle reminder that while God is exceedingly patient with us, eventually, we will be shut out if we waver too long. As Murphy says, "The times - they are getting harder and harder. I feel that if we don't let God help us we will be ‘shut out in the cold’. He tenderly and personally pursues each of us, but as He patiently waits for us, many of us do not show up." What makes this song work musically is Murphy’s sultry, Erika Badu-ish delivery. Listening to her vocals, you hear shades of Joni Mitchell, a taste of Stevie Nicks, and even a dash of Eartha Kitt. The song feels like a lazy, rainy, summer day; you just want to settle into it and enjoy. This is definitely one of Janet Murphy’s best songs. If she ever decides to settle into one genre, look out. She would be a force to be reckoned with. ......... -------------- R E V I E W - "VALLEY OF SILENCE" Janet's voice is beautiful and unique. "Valley of Silence" has a grooving, jazz piano with flowing lyrics. The Alanis Morisette of Christian Pop....MP3.com Music Director of Christian Pop |
