Artist description
If you want to put their style into words the most appropriate would be "independent", "melodic", "progressive" and "poetic". But the band insists on not confining themselves to merely one style which can also be seen by regarding the choice of cover songs Taranis are performing live on stage. Amongst these covers are for example: Metallica, Heroes del Silencio, Megadeth, Billy Idol, Midnight Oil, In Extremo, and many more. Looking at the lyrics of the band's originals you can find that they often describe the very different experiences one has to go through (or one did go through) and sometimes they also do have a kind of sociocritical character in spite of just describing the strange habits of one's last five girlfriends or of stuff one passed through being totally drunk. "The Wizard" and "Alas the Verities" feature poetic lyrics written in old english, and with the "Hobbit Trilogy" (songs "Breaking the Waves", "Left in the Dark" and "To the Havens") Andreas started to create fantasy-related lyrics (Tolkien) as well. |
