Artist History
Kim Swift founded Musicians for Peace on July 18, 1999, after steadfastly opposing NATO's war against Yugoslavia and all its horrors. Please see the BBC News article, "Red Cross Serb Starvation Warning", at http://news2.thls.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/europe/newsid_389000/389220.stm The Red Cross "appealed to the international community to provide humanitarian aid to Serbia without conditions" To donate directly, see your local Red Cross chapter or call 1-800-HELP-NOW or visit http://www.redcross.org Please also see the 10/19/99 Boston Globe article, "Retired Officers pushing to aid Serbian cities", at http://www.FreeRepublic.com/forum/a3810f0b51503.htm Please read an excellent summary of NATO's war against Yugoslavia, "What I learned from the War", by Dennis Kucinich, Democratic congressman from Ohio, at http://www.progressive.org/kuc899.htm Congressman Kucinich is a Croatian American with direct experience in the Balkans. "It is said that all Milosevic understands is force. But what we ought to ask is whether force is all we understand. The question is not so much whether or not we intervene to help relieve the suffering of others. The question is whether we can visualize a just and lasting peace through a bomb sight." Of urgent concern is also the rampant plague of AIDS in Africa. Please see the article, "AIDS Destroying Children's Lives in Africa", at http://www.freerepublic.com/forum/a3797ff7b5797.htm "It is morally indefensible, morally unconscionable, that the West is prepared to spend upwards of $40 billion to fight a war in the Balkans and less than one percent of that to save the lives of tens of millions of women and children in Africa," [UNICEF's Deputy Executive Director Stephen] Lewis said."
