Artist History
Bruce Cook has worked as a sound designer for live theater, composed soundtracks for video and television, and fronted his own band through a series of clubs and concerts in Los Angeles, California. His "Overcast in A" project specializes in using technology to recreate period music. Seasonal Meditations is a recording of works by Northern European composers from the Middle Ages and Early Renaissance. Much of this dreamy, meditative music was composed when printed materials were unheard of, musical notation was an inexact science still in its infancy, and manuscripts were painstakingly copied and beautifully illuminated in monasteries throughout Europe. As demand for this CD has grown, Cook responds, "I've been really surprised by the level of interest in this music. Some of these pieces were written 600 years ago. Too often, they are dismissed simply as historical documents or curiosities from another era. These tunes continue to appeal to people at some very basic level." Seasonal Meditations is available now at www.mp3.com. |
