Artist History
Filtered are a rock/pop band from the UK. Like all bands, they reckon they can't be pigeon-holed, but if you like crunchy guitars, meaningful lyrics and catchy choruses in the vein of Husker Du, R.E.M. and Teenage Fanclub, this could be your thing.
The band chose the name in early December 2000 - and that was only because they had their first gig coming up a couple of weeks later! Kabir Sheikh (guitar/vocal) and Fraser Whitehead (bass) had been playing together with various other musicians since 1998 and gigged with the various line-ups. In late 2000, they continued as a duo, recording their debut, New Moon, in January 2001. Having gone through a long line of drummers that Spinal Tap would envy, Nick Gipson completed the trio in September 2002. So far, he has managed to avoid all manner of gardening accidents! ;-)
In November 2001, the band signed a management deal with Angel and Dragon Promotions, have received international radio airplay and have recently recorded a new three-track EP, 'Nicotine and Tar'. They are now putting together new songs and gigging around Britain. |

Press Reviews
Guitarist magazine rated Kabir Sheikh's songwriting at 4 stars out of 5. Here's what they had to say:
'('Nostalgia' is a smart piece of pop, in an approximate Lightning Seeds vein, while 'Everything's Scarred' benefits from an angular, not to mention super heavy, guitar sound meeting an acoustic head on. 'Denied Me' (has) an impressive hook that runs throughout the whole thing and certainly proves the man's versatility.'
