Excerpts of a review of Filtered's 'New Moon' CD (Independent Records) ©2002 Stefan t'Hooft

On their debut CD, Filtered... fill the gap between punk pop and indie rock, and they do that rather nicely, I might add.
The band regularly reminds me of latter day Hüsker Dü (typically Grant Hart-like vocal melodies and Mould-ish guitar work, fierce and melodic at the same time), Therapy? and ... Das Damen, with whom they have two things in common: mixing reasonably predictable riffs with completely original ideas, and a love for lengthy songs, which is quite unusual for this type of music...
Filtered have plenty of strong melodies... At the time this CD was recorded, the band was without a drummer, so they had to (use a drum machine). However, ... there's still a whole lot left to enjoy. Songs like "Correspondence", "Rain" and "Steering Wheel" are all brilliant songs, played by fine musicians (nice guitar work!) and well-produced. Add a drummer and a bit more experience and we may very well have a new force to be reckoned with in the genre.

An annoying pop song about annoying pop songs! A review of this song here at MP3.com said: 'This is sort of a protest song about radio schlock, but it ends up being a pretty catchy "radio" tune itself. With a kind of light pop beat and tasty pop rock guitar it summons up memories of the early days of Ray Davies and The Kinks.'
