    Artist History
It was the acid-house explosion in '88 along with the band 808 State that inspired squish to save his pennies to buy a MIDI keyboard. He then started on a musical voyage to rival his favourite music. In 1992 with the receipt of his groovy electro machinery (Yamaha SY22) he wrote his first composition "Atlas", now digitally rescued from an old tape and presented here. For the next 4 years, he lived the days and nights without bread nor water in an attempt to tame his crazy machines to produce 'nice chilled electronic grooves!' During '94 to '99 his tunes received very favourable reviews in 'The mix' and 'Sound on Sound' magazine. In '96 he embarked on yet another voyage, this time non-musical, at University to study Biology and left his machines without batteries until his first recorded CD 'Electrorgasmichilloutechnosoup'. In 2001 with the purchase of ever-more crazy machines he now lives in sweden and hopes this will inspire more electrorgasmic aural dishes. Squish also records under these monikers::Drosophila Pimp and Phil Happy

    Press Reviews
The Mix 7/94 awarded squish 9.9 for stylistic impression! --Sound on Sound (Top demo award) 7/96-- ...Sonically, it's very well put together, and I also like how the kick pattern occasionally drops beats to keep the listener awake. Darren has given a lot of thought to the sounds and their overall texture. Some very low bass underpins this more ambient track and in places sounds exactly like a car engine revving up outside. --Sound on Sound 7/97-- ...The unusual pulse is quite hypnotic, and around it a string and bell mix weave and loop while the other instrumentation changes. Sub-bass accenting is one of Squish's strong points, and there's a nice little rhythm going on in the more techno-orientated second composition. --Sound on Sound 4/99-- ....the kiddie drawing of the train scanned into a computer and used for the cover is quite cute. There's nothing puerile about the music, which sounds like it's been put together by consenting adults on a computer. the best mix is the second, 'Lushultra', where the kick drum and the bass synthesizer work in harmony rather than fight for space.
