Artist description
Andrew Jackson is an alternative singer songwriter, producer, composer in the San Francisco Bay Area. Some of the early influences that helped to shape his style as a songwriter and performer include Eno, Lou Reed, David Bowie, John Lennon, and Syd Barrett. Jackson takes an experimental approach to songwriting, exploring methods of writing and recording that will produce unexpected results. He prefers to work late at night, "guided by intuition, dreams, and the laws of chance" -- which brings a haunting, ethereal quality to much of his work. Also fond of studio experimentation, Jackson uses technology in unusual ways, mixing electronics with acoustic instrumentation, and composing on the fly in his home studio. Recent projects include a new Zru Vogue CD (a collaboration with original Zruist Max Tyrell) entitled "Unlimited Enjoyment, Instant Gratification" and 1999's "Songs from the Silicon Underground," an 18-song CD with more than 60 minutes of original songs in a more-or-less acoustic format. Current projects include a retrospective compilation CD to be titled "Choking On Mochi," and a CD re-issue of Jackson's debut solo album "Prison Without Walls."
