GREAT SONGS
From ELMER'S TUNES
Please don't label Gospel only ! These are good enough for anyone to play daily!
Good enough for the country radio stations, yet has a religious
content, not the normal country heart breaks and cheating,
lying and drinking you seem to always get there.
I wanted to talk about Heaven, what it would be like, what it
would feel like to be there. (ELMER BAKER)
Elmer works at Federal Mogul in Van Wert and pursues his
songwriting as a hobby. Doing vey well with over 190,000 plays
at his web site.. www.mp3.com/elmers_tunes. We have many songs
there for people to play...almost all Gospel... Elmer Loves his
Gospel music !
Elmer Lives in Payne, Ohio.
L.V.Dabbs is the Publisher and also co-writter on this song and
many of Elmer's Tunes songs.
He is from Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
He has added his brilliance to verse three of THE OTHER SIDE...and
has written over 500 songs himself.
Phil Coley and The band , from Georgia, are the vocals and
instruments on the cd.
They make the song come alive !
As you can see, The OTHER SIDE is a professional recording of a
local songwriter that seems to be hitting the public where it
counts. Only good reports come from the song so far.
Radio stations like you could only help the song by
playing it often and telling the people that there is some local
talent.
And not all country music has to be of a bad theme. This one talks of
Jesus Christ and a better way.....
Thank you again for the future plays Elmer's Tunes will recieve
from your station.
GOD BLESS YOU !

Music:THE OTHER SIDE (vocals phil coley&watusi rodeo)
This song is a great example of traditional music done in traditional style but it doesn’t sound like an imitation. The instruments are well played and complement each other well. The instruments are traditional and that’s appropriate to this track. 8
Lyrics:
This is an authentic sounding track and the words echo the themes of this traditional music form. It encompasses just the right amount of vivid imagery that church-going folk will pick up on it as well as country music fans who are not especially religious but like the O brother where art thou? cd. 8
Arrangement &
Production:
Nicely done, but nothing out of the ordinary. I'm not sure that is an issue with this kind of track. Better to hear the authentic sounds of the instruments than unnecessary production tricks. 8
Lead Vocal:
Again, authentic and heartfelt. Depending on your goals musically and in terms of getting some sort of deal, you could slick the vocal up a bit. I prefer it this way. 8
Musicianship:
Well played on all counts. Some of it does sound a little stiff. Did one person do all the playing? Sometimes that adds a sameness to the rhythmic character of a track. Try to have a different pulse coming from the bass than from the guitar. 8
Originality:
While this is not an especially original idea, you have written in the true spirit of this genre and done so authentically. I think that says a lot about your awareness of the genre and it's totally appropriate. 7
Marketability:
What would make this track more marketable is a deeper sense of feeling on the vocal, more character in the voice and a bit more drama in the arrangement. 6
General Comments:
I liked the track very much. This genre is experiencing a resurgence and it’s a welcome development in the current music scene. Slightly more challenging or original parts would add some more marketability, but it sounds great as it is. Average Score
7.571
