    Artist History
Based in Central New Jersey, this trio first came together in 1996 after the breakup of their former bands. Combining their shared New Wave influences and mixing in personal favorites like classic 70's rock, indie rock and jazz, the band has created a familiar, yet unique sound they call non-standard pop. Each of these musicians/songwriters have racked up several years of experience in the studio and playing in clubs. Guitarist Damian Gonzalez has played in several original projects, namely You Were Spiraling, Scattered Tribes and Splinter, all in the capacity of bassist. Damian met Mary Ann Wilson when she auditioned and subsequently became the vocalist for Splinter. During this time, they both met Scott Wilson, a friend of Damian's then girlfriend. Scott had been drumming with a band called The Loved Ones and prior to this he played with 1492 and Talia. After the breakup of Splinter, Mary Ann and Damian united and called Scott on board. Damian, by now, had become the band's guitarist. After hearing Mary Ann's bass tones during a jam, Damian and Scott announced that they felt the chemistry was right with just the three of them and suggested that she play bass and sing. Naming themselves after an old Splinter song, Burning Up White was born. And that's where the story's at. Download a preview of their soon-to-be released album and drop them a line. Burning Up White would love to here from

JerseyBeat Magazine - #65 - Summer 1999Review by Rich Quinlan"This Jersey trio delivers two songs of pure power pop with dazzling lyrics and stylish playing. The band is led by the lovely singing of bassist Mary Ann Wilson. Her angelic voice carries both tracks, but she particularly shines on "William," a pleasant, smoothly flowing song that harkens back to the origins of indie pop sweetness. Not to be forgotten, drummer Scott Wilson and guitarist Damian Gonzalez are two highly skilled players who dictate the pace of each effort. Both "William" and "Movie" are mid tempo songs that show brief flashes of powerful energy before retreating back to a more soft-spoken manner. There is something haunting and unforgettable about this band, for I felt that Burning Up White has the potential to truly explode, as Wilson's voice seems to hover on the line between exorcising demons and remaining sweetly subdued. This is wonderfully entertaining and just a lot of fun to listen to. I want to hear more from this
